Chestnut Lane offers FUN, EXCITING, and EDUCATIONAL one week riding camps throughout the year where kids spend time developing fundamental riding skills, horsemanship, barn skills, gain friends and develop an everlasting love and passion for horses. Riders ages 5 and up are eligible for camp and no prior experience is necessary.
We offer:
- Full-Day Camp: (9am-3pm), ages 6 -15, any skill level-no prior experience necessary! (1hr of riding) Cost $475 or $105 per individual day
- Half-Day Camp: (9am-12pm), ages 6 -15, any skill level-no prior experience necessary! (45 minutes of riding) Cost $375 or $85 per individual day
We have over 15 lesson horses (all riding levels) which are extremely safe to work around and ride, to ensure safety and build confidence.
All camps are run by a professional instructor and assisted by experienced staff members that know the ins and outs of our lesson horses. We pride ourselves on customizing each camps daily activities and riding experiences to create the most fun experience and environment for all attendees.
Camp Description:
Each day at camp, we will break into groups based on age/experience and spend the morning doing horse activities (learning how to brush, tack the horse, & stall care), then finish the morning with 30 minutes of riding in groups of 3-4 riders, where campers will be learning foundation skills (ex. Proper riding form, balance, stirring, walking, trotting, posting, stopping, etc.). We will break for lunch and ask that attendees bring a sack lunch, snacks, and drinks of their choice each day (if any camper have any allergies or health concerns, please let us know prior 2 weeks prior to camp so we can make sure to ensure each campers safety and specific needs). We will provide water, Gatorade, and freeze pops. In the afternoon, they will do a daily craft, play games, scavenger hunts, etc. as well as have a second ride which will be a 15-30 minutes of fun/game ride or instructional. (*camps vary in the number of rides per day, but all campers will at least ride for 45mins per day.) Please be sure attendees wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (tennis shoes or a boot with a heel) for riding. Also, please have campers bring a change of clothes in case of water activities (shorts, tank top, t-shirt, socks, and sneakers. We provide helmets.
Come ride with us!
Half-day Camp
Monday-Friday 9am-12pm
Riders who attend half-day camp will spend the morning focusing on the fundamentals of ground-based horsemanship through hands-on learning. Once their horses are tacked up and ready, each rider will ride in a small group lesson designed to focus on their developmental needs while being safe and having fun. Horse-based lessons and crafts will round out the daily experience! Riders should bring a snack/lunch and plenty of fluids to stay hydrated throughout the morning.
Full-day Camp
Monday-Friday 9am-3pm
Riders attending full-day camp will spend the morning working hands-on with their horses and riding in small groups; riders will improve their skills during lessons that are geared to meet each rider’s specific needs. After lunch full-day campers will ride a second time and will continue having fun and learning with horse-themed crafts. Safety and fun are the priority! Full-day campers will develop important horsemanship skills through ground work and riding, as well as important social skills as they work with the other riders in their groups throughout the day. Riders should bring a snack and a lunch, as well as plenty of fluids to stay hydrated throughout their day at the barn.
For all camps: All riders should wear long pants and close-toed shoes to the barn and at all times while they are at the stable. Riders may wish to bring their own helmet and gloves, if they have them. If riders do not have their own helmets, Chestnut Lane will be able to provide them. Riders under 18 years of age are required to wear a helmet when riding. Please be aware that bike helmets are not approved for horseback riding.
