Lesson Horses

Drifter​​ is a Morgan gelding. He loves every aspect of being a lesson horse. He goes from teaching lessons to being to be some kids’ next step out of Academy to the show ring. He loves his one-on-one treat time as well.

Katy is an American Saddlebred mare. She is one of many lesson horses that likes to be the one that takes riders to the show ring for the first time.

Dove is our favorite Morgan Mare here at the farm.  She is excellent for the riders that are learning to be independent.

Ireland is a Morgan mare. She is always the first one to greet you at the gate to come in for lessons. She has a very sweet mentality with great teaching ability.

Ernie​ is an American Saddlebred gelding that has retired for his show horse days and now teaches our intermediate riders. He often travels with the Academy team to shows.

Spud (named after former NBA star Spud Webb) is a young American Saddlebred gelding who is one of our intermediate-advanced lesson horses. Spud is great for building up kids confidence and learning how to get a horse to boogie.

Bebeis an American Saddlebred mare who is an integral part of the Chestnut Lane Academy program. Bebe is more for your advanced riders. She will give you the true feeling of what it’s like to ride a show horse.

Bandit is an Appaloosa gelding and is the star of Chestnut Lane’s summer camps. Whether teaching new riders how to guide or posting trot, or being the best horse to body paint for summer camps, Bandit has the patience for everything and everyone.

Ray is an American Saddlebred. Ray is a super star intermediate level lesson horse with a perfect headset and a perfect temperament. Ray is one of our academy show team stars and is always willing and ready to teach everyday.

Finn is a Hackney Pony and is one of our riders’ favorite lesson horses. A retired pleasure pony, Finn has a big motor in a little body! Finn likes to boogie down the rail but also likes to test his rider and teach them how to properly use their bridle and reins.

Merlin is an American Saddlebred gelding who loves hitting the show ring with our Academy riders. Merlin is tall and striking in the arena, and happily takes all of the compliments -and peppermints- you have to spare.

Sapphire is an American Saddlebred mare and turns heads with her two different colored eyes: one is blue and one is brown! Sapphire likes to be pushy in the stall sometimes but she is all business when it comes to her lessons. She loves her peppermints and also likes to be the boss of her pasture. 

Tommy is a Half American Saddlebred and Half Arabian. Tommy is a great addition to the lesson program. He likes his extra grooming time and peppermints. Tommy also likes to follow the leader by following his pasture buddies around the arena. Tommy likes to also help with our summer camps. 

Sara is a Half Arabian and Half Morgan mare and is the foundation of our lesson program. Chances are if you have taken a lesson at our farm you have ridden Sara. She has a heart of gold and loves all of her lesson time with each and every rider. She teaches lesson and helps out with Summer Camps.

Lucy is an American Saddlebred mare who is our version of the Energizer Bunny; she has a lot of energy! Lucy is one for our new additions to the lesson program.

Surprise is an American Saddlebred mare and is the baby of the lesson program. Surprise is very sweet and loves to be groomed and loved on.

Toni is an American Saddlebred mare and her name starts with “t” because she loves to trot! Toni likes her grooming time and is very sweet, she loves attention as well. She teaches intermediate riders and up.

Hallee is an American Saddlebred mare with a sweet disposition and attitude. Hallee is very sweet and one of our easiest horses to catch. Hallee loves treats and to be loved on. She is going to be a future star of our program.
